Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS Statutory Framework sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
Broadly speaking this covers three prime areas of learning

Personal, Social and Emotional
Communication and Language
Physical development
The four specific areas of EYFS are

Mathematics
Literacy
Understanding the World
Expressive arts and design
Every child has a learning journey from when they start at our nursery (their starting point) until when they leave. This consists of regular observations, photo’s and next steps to ensure all children are meeting their learning goals for their age (as per the EYFS guidelines).

We understand the importance of Parent Partnership and hold an annual parents evening where all parents have the opportunity to go through the learning journeys with their child’s key carer and sample some of our award winning freshly cooked meals.

When children turn 2 years old we complete a ‘2 year review’ where parents come in to the setting to discuss their child’s development with their key carer. These reviews coincide with the Health Visitor 2 year checks.

We also provide extracurricular activities at St. Vincent’s which include Super Star Sport, whereby our 2 -5 year old children participate in physical activities weekly. We also have Click It computer lessons at an additional cost to promote IT skills.’
Every child is a unique child and they are constantly learning.

Our practitioners understand this and through constant observation and encouragement we assist your child's development throughout their time here with us. This enables your child to become a strong and independent individual in a safe and supportive environment.

The children also learn how to interact with others positively creating a "community", the learnings from which they take forward into later life.
